Man charged over breaking into Dublin house and standing over sleeping family with hammer

A man has been charged over breaking into a house in Dublin where he stood over a sleeping family while holding a hammer.

The young man allegedly entered the family home in Rush at 5.30am on Sunday morning armed with the weapon.

He gained entry to the house in Golden Ridge by climbing up the balcony and breaking in through the porch door, Dublin Live reports.

Once inside, he is said to have made his way to the bedroom where he stood over the sleeping family who had a young child in the house at the time.
