Police have charged a 35-year-old man with the murder of his 65-year-old father in Paradise, in Adelaide's north-east.
Emergency services were called to the house on Urban Avenue at Paradise just before 5:30am and found the body of Frank Russo inside.
His son, who lives at the same house, was taken into custody and charged with murder this afternoon.
He was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
"The people involved are known to each other," police said in a statement.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released further information and said the investigation was in its early stages.
Neighbour Tanja Sandhu said the situation was "horrifying".
"Especially when you're getting ready to go to work and the police come to your door," she said.
