Man charged over alleged 'fight' on busy Glasgow road

A MAN has been charged in connection with an alleged 'fight' which left another man injured after the Scottish Cup Final.

The incident occurred around 7.15pm last night, Saturday, May 24.

Police swarmed the area after reports of alleged fighting between groups of men.

One man was found injured by police, but refused treatment from the cops.

Police then arrested and have charged a 23-year-old man in connection with the incident.

A video posted on social media appears to show groups of football fans fighting.

Footage shows one group facing off with the other as they attempt to board a bus on the busy road. 

The footage also shows fighting breaking out between the groups as another group of people flock to help someone on the ground in the middle of the junction with Calder Street.

The incident occurred after Aberdeen beat Celtic on penalties in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received reports of a disturbance on Cathcart Road in Glasgow around 7.15pm on Saturday, 24 May, 2025.

“Officers attended and a man was found injured, however he refused medical treatment.

“A 23-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

"He was released on undertaking to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.

“Further enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
