Man charged over alleged Belfast University Street stabbing

A man has been charged in relation to an alleged stabbing in South Belfast in the early hours of Saturday.

The 20-year-old is accused of grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is due before Belfast Magistrates Court today (Monday, July 22).

A man in his 20s was taken to Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment following an incident at a flat in University Street after paramedics were called at 1.23am.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police investigating an incident at a flat in the University Street area of Belfast in the early hours of Saturday, 20 July, have charged a 20 year old man with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.



"He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday, 22 July. As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS."
