Man charged in relation to Belfast city centre stabbing incidents

A 38-year-old man has been charged after a series of attacks on a number of women in Belfast on Monday night.

The PSNI said the man had been charged with offences including five counts of 'assault occasioning actual bodily harm', one of 'attempted grievous bodily harm with intent' and one of 'possession of an offensive weapon'.

Officers probing four alleged stabbing incidents and two alleged assaults against females aged 19-22 arrested a 38-year-old man on Thursday.

A police spokesperson said: "He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates in the morning, Saturday 17 October.

"As is usual procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

"The charges follow a number of stabbing incidents in Belfast at the start of the week."
