Man charged in connection with stolen East Lothian puppies

A 59 year old man has now been charged for the theft of eight Border Collie puppies from their home at the weekend.

The litter were taken from their mother at an East Lothian farm sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The eight dogs were only five weeks old and due to their young age had still to be chipped.

However, after a successful investigation from East Lothian police, the puppies were traced and able to be returned to their home on Monday. All of the dogs were confirmed to be safe and unharmed from the incident.

The officers involved quickly proved hugely popular online for saving the adorable litter, posting a picture of the themselves holding the puppies as they were safely reunited with their mother.

Police Scotland announced this morning that a 59 year old man has now been traced and charged for the theft, with a report being sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
