A Chicago man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 41-year-old woman, whose body was discovered in a car in Lake View.

Manuel Thompson, 38, faces one count each of first-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon for his role in the shooting death of Kendra Gardner, Chicago police announced Sunday.

On May 25, Gardner was found unresponsive in the front seat of a car parked in the 3000 block of North Clifton Avenue, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy found she suffered multiple gunshot wounds and ruled her death a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Thompson was arrested Friday after he was identified as one of the people who participated in her killing, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday.
