A man arrested in connection with the death of a pensioner in a flat on Dublin's Cork Street has been charged.

Gardai have confirmed that he's due to appear before the Central Criminal Court this afternoon at 4.30pm.

He was arrested yesterday in connection with the death of Hong Kong native Kwok Ping Cheng, 76.

Gardai were questioning the suspect, who is in his 20s, in Dundrum Garda Station last night on suspicion of the murder of Mr Cheng.

A garda spokesman said: "The man in his 20s arrested in connection with this investigation has now been charged.

"He will appear before a sitting of the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin this afternoon, 6th May 2021 at 4.30pm."
