Man charged in connection with attempted murder after woman found seriously injured in Fife woods

A mas has been charged in connection with the attempted murder of a woman in Cowdenbeath.

The 23-year-old female was found badly hurt in woodlands near Broad Street, Cowdenbeath, at around 6.10pm on Sunday, August 30.

She was raced to hospital by ambulance crews and remains in a critical but stable condition.

A heavy police presence remained at the scene on Monday with the area cordoned off by officers from Police Scotland.

Cops have now confirmed a 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the incident.

The male is expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court later today.

A statement from Police Scotland read: "Police Scotland can confirm a 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted murder of a 23-year-old woman in woodland near to Broad Street, Cowdenbeath, on Sunday, 30 August 2020.

"He is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court today."
