Man charged in connection with attack on pensioner at Dundee Post Office

A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged following an assault on a Dundee pensioner.

The 70-year-old victim was attacked at Post Office on Tuesday and left "shaken" by the terrifying ordeal.

He was not left with any serious injuries and police today announced they had arrested a man in connection.

Initially, officers were looking to speak to a man and a woman who were in the Maryfield branch at the time of the attack.

However, only person has been charged in relation to the offence.

Tayside Police Division praised the public for their assistance with the search.

A spokesman for Tayside Police Division said: "A 47-year-old man was arrested and charged this morning and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

"Officers would like to thank members of the public who assisted with enquiries and those who helped during the incident, it emphasises the strong community spirit that exists in the area."
