Man charged in connection with assault of Aberdeen player at Dundee United clash

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault of an Aberdeen FC player.

Funso Ojo was involved in an incident in the home section at the front of the Eddie Thompson stand during yesterday's Premiership clash at Tannadice Park in Dundee.

The Aberdeen star was allegedly pushed by a Dundee United fan.

Police have today confirmed that following an investigation a 35-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with assault.

The man has been released on undertaking to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Following an investigation into an incident which took place yesterday (Saturday, 20 November, 2021) during the match between Dundee United Football Club and Aberdeen Football Club at Tannadice Park in Dundee, a 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault of an Aberdeen Football Club player.

"The man has been released on undertaking to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court at a later date.
