Man charged in connection with armed robbery on business premises in Dublin

A man in his 50s has been charged in connection with an armed robbery on a business premises in Dublin.

Gardaí arrested a man yesterday for an incident that they said involved "a lone male" with what was understood to be a knife, which was used to threaten staff at a business premises in Stillorgan on Saturday.

The man threatened staff before departing from the business premises with a "large sum of cash."

Gardaí informed that there were no reported injuries following the incident.

The man, aged in his 50s, was detained in a garda station in South Dublin, following the arrest which was made shortly after he left the shop. It was also reported that the sum of money has since been returned.

He has since been charged and is due to appear in court in Dublin on Monday, May 1.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí have charged the man (aged in his 50s) who was arrested yesterday, Saturday 29th April 2023, following the armed robbery of a business premises in Stillorgan, Co. Dublin.

"The man is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (Court 2) tomorrow morning, Monday 1st May 2023 at 10.30am. Investigations are ongoing."
