Man charged in connection with alleged deliberate fires in West Lothian

A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of allegedly deliberate fires in Livingston which saw more than £200,000 worth of industrial cable destroyed.

Police and fire crews were called to the scene in the early hours of July 30 following reports of material being set ablaze near the Lizzie Brice roundabout shortly after 4.30am.

Crews were also called to other blazes nearby in the Douglas and Kenilworth Rise areas in which a building and bins were allegedly set alight and thankfully no one was hurt.

A 41-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the fires.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection regarding three deliberate fires in Livingston on Friday, July 30, including one near Lizzie Brice’s roundabout.

“He is due before Livingston Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 3.

“A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
