Man charged following death of 13-year-old boy in collision in Wigan

A man has been charged following the death of a 13-year-old boy in a fatal collision in Wigan.

Liam Wilson, 21, has been charged with death by dangerous driving and assault by beating of an emergency worker.

Wilson, of Livingstone Street, Ashton-in-Makerfield, has been remanded in custody.

He will appear at Wigan Magistrates Court today (Friday, July 10).

Police were called to report of a collision between a car and a 13-year-old boy on Old Road, Ashton in Makerfield, at around 4.30pm on Tuesday, July 7.

The boy - named by police as Jack Worwood - was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he sadly died in hospital the next day.
