Man charged by police for riding off-road motorbike on public paths

A 37-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences for riding an off-road motorbike on public footpaths and roadways in Whitburn.

The motorbike was also seized as a result of the alleged incident.

The issue of people using off-road bikes illegally is a continuing problem in West Lothian.

In February local police started a rolling programme of days of action and as well as ongoing appeals for information from the public on those who terrorise housing estates using the off-road motorcycles.

And almost 300 people responded to a report on quad and motorbikes problem the council's social media page.

A police spokesperson said: "We continue to appeal for information from communities in West Lothian to identify those responsible for this type of anti-social behaviour by either phoning 101 or via the Police Scotland ‘Contact Us’ form here http://ow.ly/ft0N50NCYnH

"If you wish to remain anonymous please contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
