Man charged after woman 'dragged along road' in Melbourne carjacking

Police said they had to give up a pursuit during a series of carjackings for safety reasons.

A man charged over a carjacking in which an 18-year-old woman was allegedly dragged along a road in Melbourne's south-east is going through drug withdrawal, a court has been told.

Eddie Wells, 30, faced court charged with numerous offences over the attack on the woman in Frankston and a series of car thefts on Monday night.

Police alleged the Skye man was one of a group of people who also rammed two police cars and three parked cars when officers tried to stop them.

He was arrested by the Special Operations Group in Dandenong on Wednesday afternoon.

A 31-year-old woman from Skye was also arrested but later released.

Another man — a 23-year-old from the same suburb — handed himself in to police and has been charged with a number of offences including aggravated carjacking.

Mr Wells was remanded and will return to court in April.

His lawyer also asked for him to be seen by a nurse.
