Man charged after windows smashed, women threatened with knife

A man has been charged over an alleged incident at Woodberry where two women were threatened with a knife and multiple house windows were smashed.

Officers from Port Stephens Hunter police district were called to the Kingstown Road home on Friday night to reports of a man smashing windows and menacing a female occupant and a neighbour with a knife.

Port Stephens Hunter police Inspector Rob Post said the man also poured a jerry can of liquid over himself and the home, threatening to burn it down.

The 38-year-old man was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment to lacerations from the smashed windows.

He was later charged with affray, assault, breaching an AVO, intimidation and being armed with intent.
