Man charged after two garda detectives shot outside home in Blanchardstown

A man has been charged after two garda detectives were shot outside a home in West Dublin on Tuesday night.

He will appear before Blanchardstown District Court tomorrow morning at 10am in relation to the shocking incident.

Up to seven blasts were fired from a bedroom window of the property in Whitechapel Grove, Blanchardstown, and hit the pair of brave cops.

They received gunshot wounds to the foot and one also suffered a hand injury.

Both gardai are in hospital recovering from their injuries, which are not life threatening.

A short Garda statement this evening read: "The man (30s) arrested in relation to the firearms incident which occurred in Blanchardstown on the 25th May 2021, has been charged.

"He is scheduled to appear before Blanchardstown District Court tomorrow morning at 10:30am, 28th May 2021."
