A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection to a fatal road crash in Aberdeenshire.

Two 24-year-olds, Jay Morrison and Bethany Wilson, died following the crash on December 6 2025.

Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a crash on the A952 between Toll of Birness and Mintlaw at Clola, but Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene. Wilson was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but later died of her injuries.

The occupants of the other vehicle, a man, 62 and a woman, 61, were also taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Police Scotland has now said that a 62-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the crash.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A 62-year-old man has been arrested and charged following an investigation into a fatal road crash on the A952 in Aberdeenshire on Saturday, 6 December, 2025.

"The incident happened around 7.25pm between Toll of Birness and Mintlaw at Clola and involved a Range Rover Evoque and a Vauxhall Corsa.

"The two 24-year-old occupants of the Corsa, Jay Morrison and Bethany Wilson, died following the crash.

"The 62-year-old man is subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal."

Wilson’s family held a funeral for the young woman at the Almanythie Hall in Peterhead on January 17 where they praised and thanked the emergency services for their immediate response to the crash and the support they have given the family since.

In a statement released by Rober Mackie funeral directors, they said: “The family are eternally grateful to all who assisted Bethany at the time of the accident, especially the paramedics who cared for her on the way to hospital.

"Special thanks are also extended to the police for all the help they have given, both on the night itself and during the following weeks."

Her family previously released a statement, saying they had been "blessed to have her with us".

They said: "Bethany went to Longside Primary School and Ellon Academy, where she played the cello with lots of different musical groups.

"She went on to study for a Masters degree in product design and innovation at the University of Strathclyde, before taking a job with Walker’s.

"She had been about to start a new role with Joseph Robertson in Aberdeen.

"Bethany was an extraordinary young woman who touched the lives of so many in the short time we were blessed to have her with us.

"From her passion for design to her love of music, she embraced life with energy and joy, and had worked incredibly hard for her achievements.

"We are comforted by the thought that she had been so happy when we last saw her, looking forward to starting a new job, and planning for the future alongside her partner Jay.

"We are devastated to have lost her but feel privileged to have shared our lives with her."
