Man charged after toddler led away from parents at Clydebank shopping centre

A man has been charged in connection with an alleged attempted kidnap of a toddler at a Clydebank shopping centre.

The incident was said to have taken place at Clyde Shopping Centre at around 12.40pm on Saturday, September 14.

It is alleged that a man attempted to walk away with the child inside the busy centre.

The toddler was not harmed in the incident and was returned to their parents in a ‘very short space of time’.

A 47-year-old man is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 19.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 12.40pm on Saturday, September 14, a man was observed walking off with a child in a shopping centre in Clydebank.

"The child was not injured and returned to parents within a very short space of time.

"The incident was reported that evening.

"A 47-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due before Dumbarton Sheriff Court tomorrow."
