A man accused of firing a stolen high powered rifle into a house, sparking a police hunt that shut down a school has been charged with 30 offences.
The 25-year-old was taken into custody after allegedly evading officers for hours following the incident which police said may be linked to domestic violence.
Police allege multiple shots were fired from a high-powered rifle into a Kingaroy home about 4am on Wednesday, with several people fleeing the property.
The armed man fled the scene, sparking a widespread police search.
Kingaroy Hospital was put into partial lockdown as police sought the man while a nearby school was shut down, ensuring no students attended on Wednesday.
The man allegedly stole a car in an attempt to continue evading police before he was finally taken into custody about 1.30pm at Goodger, 15km from Kingaroy.
He was found in possession of numerous high-powered rifles allegedly stolen during a break and enter 24 hours before the incident, Superintendent Doug McDonald told reporters on Wednesday.
He was taken into custody and charged late on Wednesday with 30 offences.
They include acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, dangerous conduct with a weapon and entering a premises to commit an indictable offence.
He is set to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Thursday.
