Man charged after Scots sports shop ransacked as jackets still not recovered

A man as been arrested and charged after a sports shop raid in Perthshire.

Craigdon Mountain Sports on Perth's Scott Street was ransacked on January 23, with thousands of pounds worth of stock nicked.

Police revealed that a 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court.

The date of the court appearance is yet to be confirmed.

A Tayside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a break-in and theft at Craigdon Mountain Sports in Scott Street, Perth on January 23.

"He will appear at Perth Sheriff Court at a later date."

A number of stolen jackets are yet to be recovered, despite 'extensive enquiries and property searches'.

The items are from brands Rab, Mountain Equipment and Petzl.

Officers are urging Scots who have been sold jackets from any of these brands since January 23 to get in touch.

The spokesperson added: "Unfortunately, the thousands of pounds’ worth of jackets that were stolen have not yet been recovered, despite extensive enquiries and property searches.

"If you have any information that could help us find them, particularly if you have been offered Rab, Mountain Equipment or Petzl brand jackets for sale since Saturday 23rd, please contact us and let us know, either by calling 101 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.

"Our reference is incident 1304 of January 23."
