Man charged after Prestwick shop robbery

A man has been charged in connection with a robbery at a shop in Prestwick.

The 57-year-old was arrested following the incident which is said to have taken place around 4.10pm on Thursday afternoon.

Officers were called to an outlet on Main Street in the South Ayrshire seaside town.

The man is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday.

Earlier today, police thanked members of the public for their assistance relating to their inquiry.
