Man charged after police find cannabis crop 'growing in bedroom'

A crop of cannabis plants was uncovered by police in a Nightcliff bedroom

Police have seized a cannabis crop, after uncovering a hydroponic grow room in suburban Darwin.

Members of the Drug and Organised Crime Squad conducted a search at a property in Nightcliff on Sunday, during which they found a crop of around 17 cannabis plants being grown hydroponically in a bedroom.

A further 1 kilogram of loose cannabis was also seized.

"Anyone who is believed to be committing any offences, particularly drug type offences, can expect to have a visit from police any time of the day or night," Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Justin Bentley said.

A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged with a number of offences, including cultivating a trafficable quantity of a prohibited plant, and is due to face court on Monday.

In a separate incident last week, police charged a 22-year-old man after allegedly attempting to post a schedule two dangerous drug to two remote Indigenous communities.

It is alleged the drugs were posted for distribution.

He was charged with supplying a trafficable quantity of a schedule two dangerous drug to Indigenous communities and possession of a trafficable quantity of a schedule two dangerous drug.
