Man charged after police discover £2.9m worth of cannabis

A man has been charged over the movement of £2.9m worth of cannabis.

Shan Gao, of Moss Lane East, Manchester, has been charged with importing the Class B drug with intent to evade prohibition or restriction.

Police say the 53-year-old is currently in custody.

It comes after he was arrested on Friday (July 23) by the Oldham Challenger Team.

The team was called out following the discovery of over 400kg of cannabis by UK Border Force, police say.

Mr Geo has been remanded in custody and will appear before Tameside Magistrates Court today.
