Man charged after police cordoned off street in north Manchester

A man has been charged following a dramatic police incident involving armed officers on a residential street in north Manchester.

Police were seen at a block of flats on Cleveland Road, in Crumpsall, on Friday afternoon (August 27) following reports of “men with knives and guns”.

One man was detained and taken into custody.

Greater Manchester Police now say they have charged a 20-year-old man with possession of a firearm.

A cordon was in place across part of the street on Friday afternoon.

A crime scene investigation (CSI) van was also pictured at the scene.
