Man charged after incident in house as armed cops swoop on Scots street

A man has been arrested and charged after armed cops swooped on a Scots street.

Locals were shocked to see gun-toting officers wearing helmets and riot gear were spotted in Queens Crescent, in Livingston's Eliburn yesterday morning.

Other images circulated on social media appearing to show helicopters overhead.

Police were in the area overnight as searches continued.

A spokeswoman today said a 31-year-old had been arrested and charged in 'connection' and was due to appear in court today.

She added that the 'incident was contained' to a single house and 'there was no wider risk to the public'.

She said: “Officers were in attendance in the Queen’s Crescent area of Livingston on Sunday, 14 March, 2021 in response to an ongoing police investigation.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection. He is expected to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Monday, 15 March.

"The incident was contained to an address and there was no wider risk to the public."
