Man charged after house shot at with kids party inside

A man was arrested after shots were fired at a house where a children's party was taking place.

Sean Durran was identified by police following an investigation by West Yorkshire's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.

Following his arrest, he was charged with attempted murder following the incident on July 2019.

Durran shot at the house in Belmont Avenue, in the Low Moor area of Bradford on Saturday July 20.

Although damage was caused to the house in the shooting, nobody was injured, reports ExaminerLive.

He was identified by police, and arrested four days later - yet denied any involvement when he was interviewed.

Durrant, of Dick Lane in Tyersal, was charged with attempted murder and pleaded to possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He was jailed at Bradford Crown Court on Thursday February 6 to 13 years and two months.

Speaking after Durrant had been sentenced, Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Ian Thornes, said: “The discharge of a firearm in a public place is a serious matter, particularly in this case where an occupied property was the target.

“These incidents will not be tolerated in West Yorkshire and as today shows, those found to be involved can expect to face a significant prison sentence.”

Anyone with information about people who are suspected of illegally possessing firearms can report it to their local policing team on 101, by using the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website, or anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
