A man has been charged following the tragic death of a young woman at Helensburgh Pier.
Emergency services raced to the scene after 5pm last night to reports of a person in the water and the body of a 25-year-old woman was recovered shortly after.
The woman has been widely named online as Charmaine O'Donnell.
Officers earlier confirmed a 28-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the death.
He has now been charged and is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday 26 April 2021.
A crowdfunding page has been launched to raise money for Charmaine's family and a memorial has been planned for next week.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a 25-year old woman in Helensburgh, on Friday 23 April 2021.
"He is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday 26 April 2021."
