Man charged after allegedly confronting police officer with nail-studded post

A man has been charged with a number of offences after reports of an incident in West Belfast at the weekend.

On Sunday May 17, the 33-year-old allegedly wielded a post studded with nails while confronting a police officer in the Glenbawn Avenue area.

The officer subsequently drew his firearm.

Detectives from Musgrave have charged him with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, assault on police, obstructing police and disorderly behaviour.

He is due to appear at Belfast MC on Thursday 18 June. As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.
