Man charged after alleged break in at Ibrox Stadium

A man has been arrested following an alleged break in at Ibrox Stadium just hours after Celtic were declared champions.

Police confirmed a 49-year-old has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, which took place earlier this week.

Footage of the alleged pitch invasion appeared on social media after the Hoops were crowned winners of the SPFL Premiership on Monday.

Rangers FC, who own the Govan based stadium, later confirmed they had reported the security breach to the police and a probe was launched.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a reported incident from Ibrox Stadium which police received on Tuesday, 20 May."

Celtic’s nine in a row achievement matches a previous record set by the club during the 1963-74 season.

Rangers also achieved a nine consecutive title winning season in 1996-97.
