Man caught on CCTV flytipping says spider made him do it

A white-van driver caught on CCTV flytipping near a recycling centre said he had to stop and throw everything out of his vehicle because a spider was crawling on his arm.

Liverpool Council tweeted: “The driver of this white van claimed they had to stop and throw everything out, because...? A spider was crawling on my arm. This is not a joke. Nor is flytipping. The £400 fine has been paid.”

Liverpool Council has started shaming people for environmental crime by posting images on social media after creating a highly visible, dedicated taskforce, reports the Echo.

New officers are to be deployed using a “targeted approach” focusing on known problem areas. It is illegal to dump waste onto any land that is not an authorised waste disposal site. In December, the city council said it was tracking around 40 fly-tipping offenders and processing fines of £400.
