Man caught on camera punching dog outside London supermarket

A man has been caught on video beating a dog outside a supermarket in North London.

The unidentified man could be seen repeatedly punching the brown bull terrier-like dog while holding its lead outside the Co-op supermarket in Holloway.

The man appears to be using violence to get the medium-sized animal to sit on its hindquarters.

RSPCA inspector Clare Dew said: “We received a call and have been sent footage showing a man repeatedly punching a dog in the back, trying to get him to sit down, outside the Coop supermarket on Benwell Road in Holloway around midday on Monday.

“This behaviour is completely unacceptable, the dog is clearly frightened of the man who is attempting to get him to sit while he waits outside the shop.

"I’m keen to speak with the man as soon as possible and check on the welfare this dog and make sure he is alright.”

During the incident, the man was wearing a bright blue t-shirt, navy blue jeans and had short brown hair.

Anyone with any information have been asked to leave a message for Inspector Dew a message via the RSPCA's appeal line by calling 0300 123 8018.
