Man caught driving on wrong side of road tries to get out of car while it's still moving - then rams into police car

A driver caught on the wrong side of the road tried to get out while the vehicle was still moving before ramming into a police car.

PC Cox and PC Mooney had just dropped off a drink driver at his home when they spotted another vehicle driving towards them on the wrong side of the road on Sunday night, GMP said.

"Having successfully avoided it, they turned to find it refusing to stop, going straight through a red light before the driver tried to get out whilst the vehicle was still moving", a post on the GMP Chorlton and Didsbury Facebook page on Monday morning said.

The officers pulled up alongside the vehicle, but the driver rammed into them before stopping.

A pint was found in the vehicle (GMP Chorlton and Didsbury)

The post, signed off by 'Sgt B', said the driver claimed he hadn't been drinking 'which is a pretty bold claim when you're sat next to a pint of lager'.

No further details were published about the location of the incident or about the arrest itself.
