Man caught drinking water from vodka bottle tells police he's being eco-friendly

Police who pulled over a driver drinking from a bottle of vodka discovered it was full of water with the suspect claiming he was just being eco-friendly.

Thames Valley Police stopped the man in Reading after receiving a call about someone drinking from a Vodka bottle in a car park.

Police officers stopped them a short distance down the road driving onto the A33.

After a below zero level on the breathalyser, the individual revealed that the bottle was filled with water.

They admitted they "like to drink from glass bottles and not plastic" and the vodka bottle was "the largest bottle they [had]."

TVP Roads Policing Facebook said: "Received a [text] earlier about a person sat in their [car] drinking from a bottle of vodka in a car park looking like they were about to drive away in the green park area of #Reading.

"[Vehicle] located and stopped a short distance down the road driving onto the #A33.

"Driver admitted to drinking from the vodka bottle on their passenger seat, but surprisingly blew zero on the breathalyser…

"It transpires that it’s actually filled with water, as they like to drink from glass bottles and not plastic… and this is the largest bottle they have!

"Some friendly words of advice given to try and prevent further unnecessary calls".

People have taken to the comments section to voice their opinions on the incident:

One person wrote to the police: "I think they were hoping for this to wind you up and waste your time."

Another said: "Friendly words of advice?

"The driver has done nothing wrong, It's better drinking out of a glass bottle.

"I hope the friendly advice was just to peel the label off the bottle."

One blatantly concluded: "Not illegal though is it."

It appears this driver isn't the only one, however, as two women joke about their grandmother who allegedly carries "her squash in a wine bottle" - to which another family member responded: "lol always in a wine bottle".
