Man caught doing unnatural sex with dog; FIR lodged at Mumbra

MUMBAI: An alert citizen recently caught on camera an elderly man having unnatural sex with a stray dog at Azad Nagar in Mumbra.

The video was first shared with some of the animal activists, and later the People for Animals (PFA) lodged an FIR against the accused man at the Mumbra police station.

The president of PFA-Mumbai, Vijay Rangare, who is an honorary animal welfare officer, told TOI: "The accused man, identified only as Karim', is in his mid-50's. An alert citizen had managed to get video evidence against the accused who was sexually assaulting the dog. On September 10, we managed to lodge an FIR against the accused, but he is currently absconding.''

Rangare added that the photo of the accused was circulated around Azad Nagar locality, where some of the locals informed that his first name was `Karim' and that he often used to roam around in the area aimlessly. Police is currently trying to locate the accused.

Another animal activist, Navin N, is also assisting the authorities in catching the culprit.

Mumbra police station has registered a case under section 377 of the IPC and Section 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. The accused Karim is still missing and police are still searching for him.

"Please, always speak up when you see an animal being abused. For if you don’t, maybe no one else will. Be the voice of someone who can’t speak or defend themselves,'' said Rangare.
