Man carries entire steel girder on New York subway train

The man brought the girder onto the subway train in New York

This is the moment a construction worker carries a giant steel girder onto a New York subway train.

The man was filmed boarding a train with the beam, several metres long - to the astonishment of other passengers.

According to a witness, the man even managed to negotiate changing trains while carrying the object.

He was helped on board by fellow passengers after carrying the girder through an emergency exit.

The bizarre scene was filmed at New York's Canal Street metro station.

A man can be overheard in the clip saying: "Keep going, it's going to go in there. Only in New York.

"Get in, get in, people are helping. Everybody's helping. That's New York right there."

The footage quickly caused a stir, going viral online.

One person wrote: "Somehow this gets better. He transferred trains with the beam."

Another said: "This whole thing is just a big visual analogy for living in NYC"
