A man was carjacked at gunpoint Sunday night near the University of Illinois at Chicago campus in University Village on the Near West Side.

The 25-year-old was in his black Dodge Journey SUV about 8:30 p.m. in the 800 block of West Maxwell Street when a red Saturn pulled up alongside him, and a man exited with a gun and demanded his vehicle, according to Chicago police and a crime alert from UIC.

The man complied and the carjackers fled in both the Dodge and Saturn on South Halsted Street, UIC police said.

The Dodge was last seen entering the Dan Ryan Expressway at 1201 S. Union St., according to UIC police.

The carjacker was in his 20s, and wore a black hoodie and black face mask, UIC police said.

No injuries were reported.

CPD area detectives are investigating the incident.
