Everyone enjoys receiving a surprise in the post - unless it's of a sinister nature. One man has been urged to "leave his house" after receiving an unusual coded letter through his door.
The two-lined message is made up entirely from Roman numerals- and translates to "20 8 15 11 8 1 19 20 2 5 5 14 3 8 15 19 5 14 20 8 5 18 5 6 15 18 5 1 23 1 9 20 4 9 18 5 3 20 9 15 14". Sharing the message on Reddit, user charles2511 went onto explain how it was addressed directly to him and was posted from his city. He quickly deciphered the message - but this only left him more fearful of it.
When assigning each number to a letter, with 1 being A, 2 being B, 3 being C, and so on, the note came back to read: "Thou has been chosen. There awaits direction".
The man added: "I'm kind of freaking the f*** out. We made it through the night - so we have got that going for us.
"I called the police. Basically they said call if you get another one with more information on it."
While most Reddit users urged him to get back in touch with the police, others believe it's probably just "one of his friends trolling him".
One user said: "This seems like the beginning of a horror movie."
Another user added: "Get out the house while you still can. I wouldn't risk it. Joke or not, it's weird."
A third user said: "Someone is probably trolling you. If you feel unsafe go to the cops."
One more user said: "It's probably a troll but it's completely understandable to build an underground bunker under your house after getting something like this."
It comes after a woman discovered a creepy picture hidden underneath a box in her attic.
She explained how she was clearing out her family's vacation home when she came across a "scratched up" polaroid with the words: "Do you see him?" written on it.
Creeped out by her discovery, she has taken to Reddit to see whether anybody can make out a figure in the image.
She said: "I found it while cleaning out my family vacation home. I tried cleaning the picture as much as I could but it's really scratched up.
"I can't even really see anything, just an outline of a house and I don't see an outline of a person. I will try to look for more."
She went on to explain how a couple lived in the house before her family bought it as their vacation home.
But her dad has tasked her with cleaning it out so they can put it on the market to sell.
While most Redditors urged her to "stop looking for him and get out of there", others tried to invert the photograph to see whether they could see a man hiding in the image.
One user said: "You don't see him? I can see him. He's just standing there, what's creepy about it? I don't understand. Like it's just a guy standing there."
Another added: "I felt creeped out just looking at it. Bury it and never speak of it again."
A third person said: "Ok but do you guys see a person with a hat on about halfway in the picture?"
One more simply advised: "Put it back. Sell your house. Never go back."
