Man bursts into Glasgow shop 'covered in blood' after 'stabbing' near Dennistoun

A man burst into a shop 'covered in blood' after reports of an alleged stabbing in Glasgow last night.

Emergency services raced to Cumbernauld Road following an alleged rammy near the Nisa Way store in Haghill, near Dennistoun.

The incident happened on Aberfeldy Street at around 8.05pm before the injured 25-year-old ran into the shop for help as shocked staff called for help.

Bosses gave the man water, clothing and tissues to stop the bleed while they waited for ambulance crews to arrive.

Local reports suggest the young man was 'stabbed', although police are yet to confirm this.

A 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Bosses at the Nisa Way store told the Record: "A male came into the store covered in blood.

"The incident took place round the corner, by what we have been told.

"We tried out best to help the person by giving him water, clothing and tissues to help stop the bleed.

"We called the ambulance and police and they came very quickly and dealt with the issue from there."

The store closed for the night following the incident before reopening this morning.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers in Glasgow responded to a report of a disturbance on Aberfeldy Street around 8.05pm on Tuesday, 2 February, 2021.

"A 25-year-old man who had sustained serious injury was traced on Cumbernauld Road and taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

"Police arrested a 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman in connection with the incident a short time later. Enquiries remain ongoing."
