Man breaks lockdown rules to go on 170-mile road trip 'to get away from his wife and kids'

A man who was pulled over by the police for making a 170-mile roadtrip told police he had to leave the house to get away from his family.

According to Cornwall Live, the driver was pulled over in the South West on Easter Sunday - with police telling the motorist it was not classed as an essential journey.

Officers from Alliance Roads Policing tweeted about the incident, writing: "Taking your BMW out for a spin on a 170-mile round trip to have a break from the wife and three kids is also not an essential journey! The roads are much quieter but there are still people who don't get it. "

They also reported a driver for travelling across the country to pick up a boat- and then breaking down on a hill during the journey.

Police have thanked the majority of the UK for staying at home over the Easter weekend.

However, some people still aren't listening to the government's rules.

Hundreds of people were fined for going to beaches for the Easter bank holiday weekend - one family even admitted to going on a Devon holiday when they were pulled over.
