Man breaks into Subway shop to make foot-long chicken sandwich

Police in America are on the hunt for a man who broke into a Subway restaurant and made himself a foot-long sandwich in the early hours of the morning.

The suspect was seen breaking into a store in Washington DC and hopping over the counter in CCTV footage.

The man, who was wearing a shirt and khaki shorts, grabbed a bag of crisps before jumping over the counter and falling on the floor.

He then looked at the sandwich-making area before settling on a loaf of bread and making a sandwich.

The man then appears to have trouble locating the door, kicks it and walks out.

Police said it was a chicken sandwich which was worth around $8 (£6.50).

The incident occurred on 2 August at around 2am local time on the 1700 block of G Street in Washington DC which is not far from the Washington University campus. Police say the man is wanted for burglary.

The sandwich-making process has been edited out of the surveillance footage which police posted on YouTube.
