Man breaks his penis during sex and makes medical history

A 40-year-old man from the UK has made medical – and potentially sexual – history by having the first documented case of a broken penis.

The poor man, who understandably remains anonymous, had the shock of his life when his night of fun took a turn for the worse – in more ways than one.

Defined by the British Medical Journal as an “erect penis” which is “subjected to an abnormal ‘bending’ force”, the man got way more than he bargained for when his penis ‘buckled’ into his partner’s perineum (the area between the genitals and anus) in an ill-timed thrust.

While the main and most common sign of the unfortunate injury is a sudden “popping sensation” and gross “swelling”, the 40-year-old’s broken bone only experienced moderate tension and swelling.

The surgeon confirmed, however, that “indeed there was a 3cm vertical tear” in his snapped penis. This requires surgical intervention within 24-hours to reduce the risk of long-term complications such as “erectile dysfunction, excessive penile curvature or urethral stenosis.”

According to the study, “Up to 88.5% of penile fractures occur during sexual intercourse, with a 20-year retrospective study concluding ‘doggy style’ and ‘man on top’ as the two main etiological positions.”

Well, that’s one for the records.
