Man 'breaks arm' in mountain bike fall as rescuers attend multiple incidents

A man who was injured in a mountain bike fall was rescued from a Wicklow forest after suffering a suspected broken arm.

The biker, 40, sustained the suspected fracture after he came off his bike on the upper black route at Ballinastoe Woods shortly before 11.30am on Saturday. He was brought down to a waiting ambulance by the mountain rescue services.

It was a busy day for the Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team as they were called to three incidents in the span of just four hours. The second incident involved another mountain biker in Roundwood, Co Wicklow.

The woman was treated at the scene by a team doctor and team medical personnel with the assistance of Greenore Coastguard Unit.

The DWMRT spokesperson added: "Team was stood down at 7.47pm. Duration of incident: 4 hours, 40 minutes.

"Thank you to all agencies involved."
