Man brandishing cricket bat steals cash in convenience store robbery

Detectives have launched an investigation after a convenience store was robbed by a man with a cricket bat.

Nottinghamshire Police were called to the McColl's store, in Westdale Lane, Gedling, shortly before 6.20am today (October 27) following reports of the incident.

It was reported the man entered the store brandishing the cricket bat, before cash was stolen from the till.

Nobody was injured or hurt during the incident.

The man was described as wearing a black hoodie, speaking with an Irish accent and was carrying a bag for life.

Detective Sergeant Matt Scott, who is investigating the incident, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man matching the description or who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time.

“Many businesses are struggling at the moment due to coronavirus, so it’s more important than ever that we protect people from the selfish actions of criminals.

“If you saw anything, however small it may seem, please call us.”

Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 69 of October 27, 2020.
