Man booked for concocting story about being bashed by police in J&K's Kishtwar

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday booked a person for concocting a story about being bashed by police besides snatching of mobile and cash also, police said.

"On Sunday ( March 05), a video went viral in which a person was seen claiming that some official of Police & CID department has severely beaten him and also snatched his cash amounting to Rs 20000/- and a mobile phone from his possession," Police Spokesperson Kishtwar said.

He said, "On this incident Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Khalil Poswal constituted a special squad led by SHO PS Kishtwar inspector Abid Bukhari under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kishtwar and enquiry into the matter has been started."

During investigations, it was found that the accused in order to conceal his criminal acts has uploaded the video on social media and thus by defamed the kishtwar Police & CID personnel."

To this effect, based upon complaint of Abdul Kabir, an FIR was registered at PS Kishtwar and its investigation revealed that the accused namely Sajid Hussain was found to be involved in molestation activities. When he was caught by the resident of Lapatan area, he made a video to save his image and gave a concocted story to media person on to have been kidnapped by Police & CID personnel."

"Investigation of the instant case has been taken up and accused has been arrested", police said.

SSP Kishtwar Khalial Poswal also has cautioned all the admins of social media pages for not uploading any video or post on social media without confirming its credibility otherwise action as warranted under law will be taken against such admins.
