Man booked for acid attack on wife in Bhopal

BHOPAL: A man allegedly threw acid on his wife outside a woman’s hostel near Prabhat Square on August 2. The woman sustained burns on her skin and approached Ashoka Garden police on Monday after treatment.

SHO Ashoka Garden Alok Shrivastava said that the 33-year-old survivor hails from Balaghat and resided here at a woman’s hostel in Bhopal. She came in contact with the accused Shiva Choudhary through Facebook. Shiva claimed himself to be divorced and a resident of Fatehpur Sikri. Both married at a temple in Gwalior. After marriage, they resided in Gwalior, Fatehpur Sikri and Agra. During that period the accused used her savings. Later, after differences cropped up she returned to Bhopal and started residing at the hostel again.

SHO Shrivastava said that the woman alleged that the accused contacted her again on August 2 and asked her to meet near her hostel near Prabhat Square. When she went to meet him, a dispute took place between them and he threw acid from a bottle on her. She fell unconscious and her friend rushed her to hospital.
