Man body-slammed to floor by cop so hard 'he could feel heartbeat in his brain'

This is the incredible moment a Chicago police office body-slammed a man during his arrest.

Accused Bernard Kersh is angry that he could have been killed by the cop.

He said he "could feel my heartbeat in my brain" after being ruthlessly thrown to the pavement.

The incident happened during the Thanksgiving holidays but the video has just surfaced.

Police, who have not revealed the name of the officer, say Kersh was stopped for drinking alcohol in a public space.

They say he soon became verbally abusive, spat in his face and then threatening him. He also now faces charges of resisting arrest.

But Kersh's legal representative is asking for all action to be dropped in light of the complaint.

The 43-second clip sees him lifted up into the air and hurled to the floor.

Unhappy Kersh said to WBBM: "I am happy to be alive.

"Because I could easily not be here talking about it right now.

"I could have been killed. I would have rather been tased than be slammed like that.

"It was like I could feel my heartbeat in my brain."

"If wrongdoing is discovered, officers will be held accountable," the Chicago Police Department said in a statement.

Attorney, Andrew Stroth, told CNN the officer's technique was "excessive" and "unreasonable" and said Kersh "did not present a threat to the officer."

He was released on bond and is expected in court January 15, according to Cook County Sheriff's Office.
