Man blocks one of Nottingham's busiest bus lanes - with a barbecue

It is probably one of the most unusual things to ever happen in a bus lane.

But on June 8, Nottinghamshire Police officers were called to Hucknall Lane after a man started a barbecue in the middle of a bus lane, restricting traffic.

A video appeared on social media of a man with a pull cart with a barbecue on the back. The video shows him flipping several pieces of chicken while telling police his tyre is flat.

Police had to put out cones so traffic could divert around him.

It is not known why the man decided to set up a barbecue on one of Nottingham's busiest roads.

Neighbourhood Inspector Christine Busuttil, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We attended a report of a man cooking a barbecue in a bus lane on Hucknall Road, Nottingham, at around 7pm on Monday, June 8.

"Our officers spoke to the man and gave strong words of advice, however, having reviewed our response to this incident we will be visiting him in due course.

"Any repeat actions of this kind could result in Environmental Health getting involved or items being seized."
