A man was shot dead as he stood at a doorstep in a Dublin estate this morning.
He was blasted up to eight times as he answered the door in Croftwood Park in Ballyfermot around 11am this morning, it has been reported.
The gunman fled the scene in a car and a vehicle was later found burnt out on a nearby road.
Gardai are investigating whether the car was used in the shooting, Independent.ie reports.
Another car was found burnt out at a separate location.


Sinn Féin City Councillor and Chair of the Joint Policing Committee, Daithí Doolan condemned the shooting saying: "The shooting in Cherry Orchard this morning was wrong. I totally condemn It. It is an attack on the whole community.
"Cherry Orchard is a great community. It is full of hardworking families. This gun attack will not undo or distract us from the good work we are doing at local level.
"We will redouble our efforts to make Cherry Orchard a great place to live.
"This community will not be held to ransom by these criminals.
"We must ensure those involved are arrested and face the full rigours of the law. I encourage anyone with information to please contact the Gardaí."


A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred at a house in the Croftwood Park area of Ballyfermot on 27/07/2020 at approximately 11am.
"A man (age currently unknown) received a number of gunshot wounds and has been pronounced dead at the scene.
"The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination.
